Town Square Eats is a collaboration between two East Bay families, Chef Rob Lam & Helen Chandra of Perle Wine Bar and James and Lea Yu of Great China. The four have over fifty years of restaurant experience combined. Lam runs Perle with Chandra in the Montclair district of Oakland and is a local industry veteran with Butterfly, a Cal-Asian restaurant and lounge on the Embarcadero, and Eastside West, a popular Marina bar, under his belt. The Yus accolades for Great China include a Michelin Bib Gourmand, consecutive James Beard nominations for Outstanding Wine Program and multiple Wine Spectator Awards. Their 150-seat restaurant in Berkeley is consistently listed as one of the top 50 restaurants in the Bay Area. At Town Square Eats, Lam and James Yu are taking the lead on the menu and food, while their partners, Chandra and Lea Yu run the kitchen and business. This is their first collaboration and they are excited to bring something new to Oakland.
